Spotting Consumer 2.0

Twitter RT: Sharing 2.0

Twitter recently announced that the retweet will become a formal feature of the social networking platform. Central to sharing articles and content, RT has become such an important tenet that the network has deemed it necessary to standardize the process. While the development may seem like a logical next step for Twitter, the widespread adoption of the RT highlights how important the sharing of information has become to Consumer 2.0. As consumers no longer rely on traditional media to discover new information and inform purchasing decisions, social technology has put the power in the hands of the crowd, allowing individuals to repurpose brands and share information as they see fit. Furthermore, this update represents the formalization of a user-generated practice, proving the need for social channels (and brands alike) to change and adapt to user preferences.

Mr Youth Celebrates the Fresh Faces of Music with Neutrogena

Neutrogena and Mr Youth rocked Los Angeles in September, kicking off the back-to-school season in a big way with a one-of-a-kind experience: the Fresh Faces of Music VIP Event. The event celebrated Neutrogena’s generous donation to the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, and featured the brand’s spokeswomen Vanessa Hudgens, Hayden Panettiere and Susie Castillo as well as a live performance from artist Jordan Pruitt. Throughout the day, the lucky VIPs who attended the event were treated to several “Fresh Faces” activities including a Touch-Up Station featuring make-up artists from Allure Magazine, product sampling at the Sun Station and giveaways of the Neutrogena Wave DUO at the Fresh Faces Store. The result- an unforgettable Neutrogena experience, national media coverage that included People.com, Star Magazine Online, Access Hollywood Online and Hollywood.com, and word-of-mouth buzz that is sure to travel.
